Myth Busting with AQ: Who needs Revit? You Do.

At this point, we all know that seeing is believing, right? Visuals inspire ideas and generally help businesses sell more stuff. In our industry, the importance of design at the front-end of a project is growing and the trend is moving towards being BIM (Building Information Modeling) compliant. In terms of kitchen design, BIM software enables design to be presented in the way we actually see things – three dimensional. Already the UK requires that bids for any government construction projects be submitted in Level 2 BIM and if the chatter we’ve been hearing is any indication, the rest of Europe and the U.S. are soon to follow. If you want to stay ahead of the curve now is the time to consider what BIM design means for your business.

So, what does AQ know about BIM? We know that Autodesk Revit is the most widely utilized BIM software and like AQ, BIM is a single source of information and promotes better collaboration for teams working together on the same projects. The next step was to make it even easier our customers to go beyond the quote using AQ and build an integration to optimize quoting and Revit design workflows. We are pleased to introduce you to the AQ Designer Plug-In for Autodesk Revit! There’s lots of information available touting the benefits of Revit already so in 250 words or less we are going to break up some myths still hanging around.

Myth 1: We are not a design firm, so we don’t need Revit.

Got it. Like most businesses, you're probably being challenged more than ever before to create more value for your customers. Providing a 3-D design that is completely customized to your quote easily (not to mention with accuracy) not only allows your customer to visualize the end results but just might give you a leg up on the competition.

Myth 2: I don’t keep Revit families on hand, and it’s too hard to chase after them.

We got you! AQ publishes more than 30,000 Revit families covering more than 58,000 products. Using the AQ Designer Plug-In for Autodesk Revit allows you to access those families and auto populate a Revit drawing using information directly from your AQ quote.

Myth 3: I already design in AutoCAD so, I’m all set.

You’re already in the design game? Awesome! Implementing Revit will take your designs to the next level. Revit families contain detailed utility information and at a glance you can assess MEP schedules, isolate building levels at the touch of a button, and access a built-in collaboration tool that keeps you and your team on the same page even if you’re working on a project at the same time.

That’s just the tip of the Revit iceberg. To learn more, we encourage you to reach out to the AQ sales team at sales@aq-fes.com and we can show you how AQ can get you started.
